DCI was formed in 1988 in Michigan to serve the growing needs of the automotive and aerospace industries in North America for third-party quality assurance services. Computer assisted optics comprised the backbone technology; operated by personnel trained in metrology and expert in application.

During the next three decades, we dramatically broadened and deepened our capabilities. Acquisitions of laser tracker and scanning systems fostered expansion into the construction, defense, forensic, medical, power generation, surveying and tooling industries.
